U.S. Postal Service Move Update Reminder
Effective November 23, 2008, the USPS requires that all mailers being sent out First Class presorted mail or Standard Class mail use mailing address data that has been updated with one of the USPS approved “Move Update” methods. This requirement, which previously applied only to First Class presorted mail, must now be done within 95 days prior to the mail date, instead of the previous mandate of 185 days. For example, any mail going out on November 23 needs to have a mailing database that was last updated no earlier than August 20. This more frequent address Move Updating is intended to reduce the amount of forwarded and undeliverable mail.

Most purchased lists from reputable compilers will have been through a USPS approved update process. These lists should be accompanied by paperwork certifying the process type and date of the updating. As a Mail Service Provider, Anderson Direct is required to run data that does not have proper certifications through a 48-month or 18-month NCOA service if automated postage discounts are to be obtained. This is one of the many ways in which we can help reduce your overall mailing costs.
